Classic project management is based on a holistic approach. In contrast to agile project management, the approach is rigid. It is also often referred to as waterfall project management. The focus is on intensive planning of the entire process in several phases with a defined end state BEFORE the project begins. A deviation from this plan is not wanted. In order to allow for possible adjustments, buffers are planned between the phases.
